With many iconic 2000s shonen anime concluding, new series like Jujutsu Kaisen have emerged.  Jujutsu Kaisen follows Yuji Itadori, who becomes the vessel for a powerful sorcerer.  His journey through the world of curses and sorcery has already proven exciting, even if the ending isn't perfect.

My Hero Academia

In My Hero Academia, most people have superpowers.  The story focuses on Izuku Midoriya, who, despite being born without powers, inherits the powerful Quirk One For All.  The series explores the conflict between One For All and All For One, reaching a climax in the latest season with Izuku, Shigaraki, and All For One engaged in a decisive battle.

Vinland Saga 

Inspired by the Viking era of the Dark Ages, Vinland Saga is a brutal but mature shonen anime. While featuring violence, it also explores deeper themes of life, death, and happiness, offering a unique perspective within the genre.

Dandadan, a breakout anime success of 2024, stands out for its unique blend of genres, departing from typical shonen tropes.  Despite being early in its run, its strong production, humor, and romance suggest a bright future, even if the ending proves disappointing.

Bleach

In the late 2000s, Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece were known as the "Big Three" of shonen anime. While Naruto and One Piece continued their success, Bleach faltered and its anime was canceled before the final arc.  However, the final arc, Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War, was finally animated in 2022, giving fans a chance to see the intended ending of Ichigo's story. Even a bad ending is preferable to the previous cancellation.

Solo Leveling, while acknowledging its isekai status, avoids these tropes with a grounded tone.  The result is an action-packed, visually impressive series that, despite any potential disappointing ending, has already achieved success due to its high excitement factor.

Black Clover

Black Clover, a popular shonen anime, has been on hiatus since 2021 due to production issues. While disappointing for fans, this hiatus has built anticipation for the final saga, which will see the Clover Kingdom face the Devils of the Spade Kingdom.  Regardless of the quality of the ending, the series' enjoyable run so far has been worthwhile.
