Sung Jinwoo, though powerful, couldn't face the multiple Itarim Gods threatening Earth.  He left to fight them in space, leaving his son behind.  The question remains: what happened to Cha Hae-In?  The Solo Leveling novel reveals she was drawn into a separate dimensional rift created by the Itarim's Apostles while flying with Kaisel after the original series' ending.  This rift, unlike Jinwoo's, closed, trapping Cha Hae-In and Kaisel in a dangerous dimension for years.

Jinwoo Doesn't Know That Cha Hae-In Didn't Return To Earth Beru Confirms This After Reuniting With Suho In Ragnarok

Before leaving Earth, Jinwoo suppressed his son Suho's powers for a normal life.  However, with the reappearance of Gates, Suho's powers awaken. Beru informs Suho of Jinwoo's space battle and reveals Cha Hae-In disappeared the same day.  Suspecting the Itarim's involvement, Beru tasks Suho with finding his mother.  Suho eventually does reunite with Cha Hae-In in the novel after she and Kaisel survive for five years in the other dimension, returning through a reopened Gate.  Webtoon readers will have to wait for this reunion.

Cha Hae-In disappears the same day Sung Jinwoo leaves to fight in space.  The novel reveals she was trapped in a separate dimensional rift for five years.  Suho eventually reunites with her in the novel after her return. Webtoon readers await this moment.
