Vinland Saga Creator reveals what fans can expect from the finale
Recently, the creator of Vinland Saga, Makoto Yukimurawas in Canada was a guest at the Toronto International Authors Festival (TIFA) and at a Japan Foundation event.
In an interview with Anime Trending, in addition to revealing that he had to change the beginning of the story to obtain approval from the publisher and detail his historical research process, the mangaka commented on what readers can expect from the end.
“Actually, I don’t know what will happen at the end of this story! I believe that when the manga ends, everyone hopes for a happy ending, but there are historical facts. That’s the part difficult for me at the moment.
According to the story, the end of Thorfinn’s journey is tragic. Something truly tragic will happen to these characters. ‘How can I make this not a complete tragedy?’. This is something I’m working on now. What should I do?” said Yukimura.
The interviewer then suggested that he give the character a happy ending, after all, it is fiction. So, the author stated that he will do his best to move in that direction.
Vinland Saga is serialized in the monthly magazine Afternoon. The manga published in Japan by Kodansha since 2005 it has 27 volumes to date. In Brazil, the title was released by Panini.
