How the anime convinced the film’s cast to participate
Scott Pilgrim is returning to screens, but this time as an anime. And the interesting thing is that it will feature the voices of the original film’s cast. Now the creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley and the film’s director, Edgar Wright tell how they reunited the film’s cast after so long.
Speaking to Netflix, Edgar Wright revealed that although all the cast members have had very different and busy lives over the years, they still keep in touch after all these years through an email group. So, when he needed to talk to the cast to tell them the news about the anime, Edgar Wright just wrote an email saying “Scott Pilgrim… will it continue?” and everyone agreed to return.
“One of the most beautiful things about making Scott Pilgrim is that, after 14 years since we made the film, we are still all friends and see each other as often as we can. Hearing the actors play their roles again was moving and hilarious. We are giving them the opportunity to revisit something that meant a lot to them, but also bringing years of experience into their perspective with these characters and that leads to something incredible’
