Dragon Ball Daima | Where does the new anime fit into the franchise’s chronology?
During the panel Dragon Ball already New York Comic Con (NYCC), the new anime was announced Dragon Ball Daima which will be released in 2024, as part of the celebration of the manga’s 40th anniversary.
The plot presents Goku and his friends being turned into children, after a conspiracy involving a request to Shenron. One question that was raised among fans following the announcement is where the new series fits into the franchise’s chronology.
The trailer confirms that the story takes place after the events of Dragon Ball Z probably shortly after the battle against Majin Buu. As introduced characters do not appear Dragon Ball Super and Goku and Vegeta are shown without the symbol of Whis the new anime will take place before this phase.
Such details wouldn’t matter if the story weren’t canon, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. The plot was created by the author of the original work, Akira Toriyama, who is heavily involved in the production. Furthermore, in a letter to fans, he promised to address many mysteries in the Dragon Ball universe.
