Tokyo Revengers follows a 26-year-old freelancer named Takemichi Hanagaki


Tokyo Revengers follows a 26-year-old freelancer named Takemichi Hanagaki who one day finds out that his middle school ex-girlfriend Hinata Tachibana and younger brother Naoto were killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang. One day, Takemichi is pushed under a train and at that moment he travels back in time, traveling 12 years past, to the year 2005. He uses the opportunity to change the future and save his girlfriend.

After traveling back in time, he finds his friends being forced into secret meetings by Kiyomasa, a member of the Tokyo Manji Gang. Takemichi’s determination to protect her earns the respect of gang leader Mikey.

Meanwhile, several accidents occur and he can finally save his friends. Returning to the present, Takemichi finds his friends alive. But she discovers that Mikey hasn’t been in touch with his friends for the past 12 years and has formed a new gang called Bonten. Now the Tokyo Manji Gang has been disbanded. Currently, there is a power struggle between Brahman, Rokuhara Tandai, and Mikey’s new gang, the Kanto Manji Gang. To meet Mikey and rid him of his dark urges, Takemichi joins Brahman. Later, Takemichi recreates the Tokyo Manji Gang and challenges Mikey’s new Kanto Manji Gang. The story continues as Takemichi saves his friends and Mikey and creates a peaceful timeline in the present.

About Tokyo Revengers

Tokyo Revengers is a famous Japanese manga illustrated and written by Ken Wakui. The manga series was published in Kodansha’s Shōnen Weekly Magazine in March 2017 and ran until November 2022. Meanwhile, an anime adaptation of the manga is underway, with a second season planned for 2023. It has a stable fan base, those who love Japanese comics and graphic novels still look forward to more manga.

As of December 2022, the manga had over 70 million copies distributed, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. Ken Wakui will unveil a special Tokyo Revengers manga arc in November 2023 at a major exhibition in Roppongi, Tokyo. The news was revealed by Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in its 2022 issue #51.

Magazine also announced that it is serializing Ken Wakui’s spin-off manga Tokyo Revengers Extra based on his Tokyo Revengers series. The eight special chapters of Tokyo Revengers are titled Tokyo Revengers Extra. The first chapter is called “Wounded Tiger” which continues the story of the founders of the Tokyo Manji gang. Additional manga chapters were originally bundled with the Tokyo Revengers anime Blu-ray and DVD discs.

The original Tokyo Revengers manga consists of five parts namely the “First part“, the “Valhalla/Bloody Halloween part”, the “Black Dragons/Christmas Showdown part, the “Tenjiku” part, and the “Final Arc” part. Now let’s take a quick look at the plot of the manga.
