Get ready for an exciting adventure as Kingdom Hearts officially returns with a brand-new story ahead of its 2027 release. The Walt Disney Company has revealed that an official anime TV series of Kingdom Hearts is in the works for the Disney Channel and Disney+.
The Inspiration Behind the New Arc
Benjamin Bratt, who played Ernesto de la Cruz in the 2017 movie Coco, shared the exciting news at D23 2026, currently taking place in Anaheim, California. Additionally, Bratt revealed that the critically acclaimed Pixar movie Coco will appear in Kingdom Hearts IV, scheduled for release in 2027 across multiple platforms.
The Creative Team Behind the New Series
“Kingdom Hearts has captivated gamers everywhere with its unique blend of adventure and imagination,” Disney Kids & Family president Ayo Davis said, per Variety. “There’s something really exciting about taking a world fans have spent years exploring through the games and bringing it to life in a completely new way. And with a creative team that is working closely with the legendary Tetsuya Nomura, our new series will be unmistakably Kingdom Hearts, while giving fans a whole new way to experience the world they love.”
A brand-new preview of Kingdom Hearts IV was officially released at D23 ahead of the game's 2027 release, showcasing the new fantastical world inspired by Coco. The new trailer continues to tease the latest threat aimed at Sora, Donald, Mickey and Goofy.
