Akane Banashi, the anime based on the original work by Hiroki Suenaga and Takamasa Umajo, has been confirmed for a second season, set to broadcast on TV Asahi's 24 nationwide network 'IMAnimation', BS Asahi, and others from January 2027.

The Storyline of Akane Banashi Season 2
Akane Banashi is the story of Akane Sakurasaki, a girl who was fascinated by the rakugo of her father, Shinta Aragawa, who is a rakugo storyteller, when she was young, and began her own career as a storyteller. The second season depicts the 'Maeza training chapter' in which Akane, who graduates from high school and is allowed to become an official disciple of Shiguma Aragawa, walks the path to becoming a rakugo storyteller as Akane Aragawa.

New Cast Members Announced
The cast of new characters that appeared in the final episode of the first season were also revealed. Yoshitada Otsuka will play the role of Kashiwaya Sanroku, Ryotaro Okiayu will play the role of Masaaki Tsubakiya, Hiroshi Naka will play the role of Sanmeitei Enso, Mutsuko Tamura will play the role of Rara Ransai, Shinichiro Miki will play the role of Ryuun the Sonpuutei, and Tomokazu Seki will play the role of Chocho Konjakutei.
