"Yanisu Anime: Midnight Theme Song Release"

Updates on Yanisu Anime: New Visuals and Theme Song Deets Out Now!

The wait is finally getting over for the fans of the popular series "Two people smoking tar behind the supermarket" (or simply Yanisu). Based on the original work by Jinushi, the production team has finally dropped the main key visual and the very first main PV for the TV anime adaptation. It is quite a big moment because fans have been waiting to see how the unique vibe of the manga translates into animation. If you haven't seen it yet, the visual is looking very solid and stays true to the source material's aesthetic.

In this new main key visual, we can see Sasaki smoking a cigarette with a very gentle, relaxed smile while standing in the designated smoking area behind the supermarket. Right there with him is Tayama, who is also smoking while looking at Sasaki with that characteristic expression of hers. The first main PV actually starts off with a scene where Sasaki is approached by Tayama behind the shop. They meet up to just smoke together, and it captures that awkward but sweet chemistry perfectly. It’s exactly why Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is the must-read wholesome seinen manga phenomenon for many readers in India and abroad.

The trailer also shows a funny bit where Sasaki wonders how Tayama already knew his name since they just met. Yamada (the clerk) smiles in a very meaningful way, probably thinking about how dense Sasaki can be sometimes. There is also a scene where Tayama suddenly gets close to Sasaki and says, "I won't tell you," which was a great highlight in the PV.

Staff and Theme Song Announcements

Along with the visuals, the staff information is also out. The directors for the project are Rihito Suzuki and Aoi Mori. Both of them are already quite well-known for their amazing work on the TV anime "Ginga Next Door." Having them on board is making the fans even more excited about the quality of the show. Also, we got the details for the theme songs! The opening theme will be handled by Zutomayo (the theme should always be midnight). For the ending theme, they have decided on the song "Fiction" by imase. You can actually hear a bit of it in the first PV already. Both artists have shared their comments and seem very happy to be part of this project.

What is the Story About?

For those who are new to this, "Two People Smoking Resin Behind the Supermarket" tells the story of Sasaki, a tired office worker who finds a bit of peace after his shift. He usually visits a specific supermarket to see a cheerful clerk named Yamada. However, he ends up deepening his relationship with a slightly "rebellious" looking girl named Tayama in the smoking area behind the store. The catch? He doesn't realize Yamada and Tayama are actually the same person! This hidden identity dynamic is a major reason why Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is the must-read wholesome seinen manga phenomenon that everyone is talking about lately.

The TV anime is scheduled to start its broadcast in July, airing on 28 TBS stations every Thursday. So, if you are a fan of slice-of-life or unique romance stories, you should definitely keep an eye on this one for the Summer 2026 season. It's going to be a very chill and heartwarming watch for sure.

  • Series Name: Two people smoking behind the supermarket (Yanisu)
  • Broadcast Start: July 2026 (Summer Cool)
  • Main Cast: Takuya Sato as Sasaki, Seika Hoshi as Yamada/Tayama, Shinya Takahashi as Suzuki.

Overall, the production value looks quite promising. The character designs feel very close to Jinushi's original art style, which is a big relief for the manga purists. Make sure to check out related articles and reports from the "AnimeJapan" event to get even more behind-the-scenes info!
