A special one-shot of Eiji Hashimoto's ``Chiruran Shinsengumi Requiem'' based on the original work by Shinya Umemura is now available in the first and second parts. The first part was shown in the May issue of Monthly Comic Zenon (Core Mix), which will be released today on March 25th, and the second part will be published in the June issue of the same magazine, which will be released on April 24th.
``Chiruran Shinsengumi Requiem'' is a historical drama about the Shinsengumi that follows the life of Toshizo Hijikata, a man who seeks the strongest. The special one-shot features Kisuke Yoshida, a wealthy farmer who looks up to Hijikata as his mentor, reminiscing about his past. The story depicts the encounter between Kisuke and Hijikata, who cannot give up on their dream of becoming a samurai despite being ridiculed by those around them because of their social status.
In addition, the May issue of Monthly Comic Zenon also features an interview with Yuki Yamada, the lead actor, in commemoration of the drama ``Chiruran Shinsengumi Requiem'' just before its broadcast. The article is in a Q&A format, with Yamada answering questions from Umemura and Hashimoto, who are working on the original manga.
