My Hero Academia Celebrates a Decade: 10th Anniversary Project Officially Kicks Off

The super-hit anime My Hero Academia, which is based on the incredible manga by Kohei Horikoshi, has officially hit its 10th anniversary today, April 3rd. It is a massive milestone for the franchise, and to make things even more exciting, a brand-new 10th anniversary project has just started. Along with this big announcement, the official team has released a stunning key visual to mark the occasion.

If you look back, the first season of the show actually began its broadcast on April 3, 2016. This new commemorative visual was specially drawn by the talented animator Yoshihiko Umakoshi. He has been the main character designer since the very first season and has worked on a total of 37 visuals for both the TV anime and movie versions. This specific visual is quite special because it features 32 characters, which is the largest number of characters ever seen in one of their posters. You can see Deku, Katsuki Bakugou, and all the other students from Yuei High School Hero Department Class A. Even professional heroes like All Might and members of the villain coalition like Shigara Kisara are included. Interestingly, the background uses the same design as the Season 1 key visual, giving fans a real sense of nostalgia. The team also mentioned that this visual will be appearing in many places soon and will definitely be turned into exclusive merchandise.

Special Anniversary Episode "More" and Screening Events

The excitement doesn't stop there. A visual for the special episode titled "More", which is scheduled to broadcast on May 2nd, has also been revealed. This "More" episode is actually an additional story that was part of the 42nd volume of the original manga. It's really cool because it shows the characters eight years after they graduated from Yuei High School. The visual depicts Deku, Bakugou, Shoto Todoroki, Tenya Iida, Ochako Uraraka, and Tsuyu Kagofuki rushing to the scene of a mission as adults. For fans, the ultimate guide to My Hero Academia definitely needs to include this new look at the future.

There is also going to be a unique event called the "Character Matchup Name Episode Screening." At this event, specific character rivalries or matchups will be selected, and episodes focused on those relationships will be shown in movie theaters across Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and other cities. The very first screening on May 16th is going to focus on Ochako Uraraka x Himiko Toga. They will show five episodes that really highlight the deep and complicated bond between these two characters who met as a hero and a villain. To make it even better, there will be stage greetings from the voice actors Ayane Sakura (who plays Ochako) and Misato Fukuen (who plays Toga). These special screenings will also include the "More" episode.

Live Music Festivals and Free Global Streaming

For the music lovers out there, a massive live festival called "ANI-ROCK FES.2026 My Hero Academia PLUS ULTRA LIVE" has been announced for November 22nd and 23rd. It will be held at the Yoyogi National Stadium First Gymnasium in Tokyo. The festival will feature several artists who have performed theme songs for the series over the years. They will be performing the iconic opening and ending themes along with some of their own original tracks. The full list of artists and ticket details will be out on May 1st.

Also, starting from tonight at 21:00, the official TOHO animation channel on YouTube will be hosting a free streaming marathon for a limited time. Out of the 170 total episodes, you can watch 63 episodes for free, covering the first three seasons. They have even added subtitles in six different languages, including English, so that global fans can join in the celebration. Here is the schedule:

  • Season 1 (Episodes 1-13): April 3rd to May 3rd.
  • Season 2 & 3: Will be released sequentially from May through August.

On top of all this, new 10th anniversary goods will be released every month starting April 16th. There are also special projects happening at Animate stores and a brand-new mobile game called "My Hero Academia UNITED SURVIVAL" has been announced. It’s truly a great time to be a fan, and seeing why you need to experience the anime and manga is easier than ever with all these events.
