It has been revealed that composer and jazz pianist Yuji Ohno passed away on May 4th due to old age.

Ohno has written many songs for the 'Lupin the Third' series, including 'Lupin the Third Theme' from the 1977 anime 'Lupin the Third Part 2' and 'Treasure of Fire,' the theme song for the movie 'The Castle of Cagliostro.' Ohno's official X reported, 'Until just before that, he was spending his time as usual, and departed peacefully without suffering while sleeping.' It was also announced that the funeral and farewell ceremony will be held with only close relatives in accordance with the wishes of the bereaved family, and that a farewell party will be held at a later date.
Early Life and Career
Ohno was born on May 30, 1941 in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. After disbanding the trio he formed immediately after graduating from university, he began working as a composer on music for commercials and films and television such as 'The Inugami Family' and 'Proof of Humanity.' In 1977, he created 'Lupin the Third Theme' as the theme song for the TV anime 'Lupin the Third.' Since then, it has been used as the prototype for the theme song of the same work for 40 years.
In the 2000s, he became active as a player and was active in various forms such as Yuji Ohno Trio, Yuji Ohno & Lupintic Five, and Yuji Ohno & Lupintic Six. The 'Lupintic All Stars Produced by YUJI OHNO' scheduled to be held on May 30th will be held as scheduled as Ohno had been preparing for it since before his death.
