Rankingoo’s Mid‑Year Survey Shifts the Anime Landscape
When Rankingoo released its Fall 2026 Mid‑Year Popularity results, the numbers sparked chatter across forums. Leading the pack with 267 votes, The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 Part 1 toppled the usual heavyweight, Dragon Ball Super, signaling a growing appetite for mystery‑drama over pure shōnen battles.
Why Maomao’s Mind Beats Muscle
Set against a backdrop inspired by ancient Chinese dynasties, the series follows Maomao, a sharp‑witted apothecary who’s thrust into palace intrigue after a eunuch named Jinshi spots her talent. In this season she predicts a looming locust plague, linking her herbal expertise to a broader political crisis. Fans love the slow‑burn romance and the way the show blends forensic detail with court drama.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Gets a Modern Makeover
Premiering on October 11, 2026, the “enhanced” Beerus arc revisits the God of Destruction storyline with crisper animation and fresh fight choreography. Toei kept Masako Nozawa and Koichi Yamadera in their iconic roles, a move praised by longtime fans who value consistency in voice talent.
As of October 23, two episodes have aired, with Episode 3 slated for October 25. The series aims to re‑energize a franchise that’s now over a decade old, offering both nostalgia and new visual flair.
Streaming Availability
International audiences can catch both top contenders on Crunchyroll, ensuring easy access regardless of region. This dual availability has helped maintain global buzz and contributed to the high poll scores.
Other Notable Contenders
While The Apothecary Diaries and Beerus dominate headlines, titles like Tokyo Revengers: War of the Three Titans Arc, Ranma 1/2 Season 3, and Blue Box Season 2 also secured strong followings, each earning between 80‑117 votes. Even niche entries such as As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World proved popular, reflecting the season’s diverse tastes.
Overall, the Fall 2026 lineup showcases a shift toward narrative depth and character‑driven stories, hinting at where anime trends may head next year.
