``The Silent Fleet: The Great Battle of the Arctic Ocean'' is the second live-action series of Amazon MGM Studios' adaptation of Kawaguchi's ``The Silent Fleet,'' starring Takao Osawa as the lead actor and producer. Set in the frigid Arctic Ocean, the film depicts a tense political battle over how to deal with the independent nation of Yamato. It was released in theaters nationwide on September 26, 2025, and box office revenue exceeded 1.15 billion yen. The Prime Video special edition includes a scene featuring Hiroshi Fukamachi, played by Hiroshi Tamaki, that did not appear in the movie version. Fukamachi is the captain of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force submarine ``Tatsunami'' and is a hot-blooded person. Kaieda and Fukamachi, who are always calm and collected, are at odds with each other due to an incident that happened when they were on the same submarine, but they are also rivals who recognize each other's abilities.

In addition, unreleased scenes of politician Jun Otaki, played by Kenjiro Tsuda, and Cabinet Secretary Wataru Kaibara, played by Yosuke Eguchi, have been added. Otaki is the representative of the new party ``Kyosuikai,'' which is independent from the Democratic Liberal Party, and is a person who advocates a grand vision of nuclear deterrence and world peace. Kaibara supports the central government as the right-hand man of Prime Minister Toshio Takegami, who has announced the continuation of the alliance with Yamato.

Furthermore, the first drama in the series, "The Silent Fleet Season 1 ~The Great Battle of Tokyo Bay~" will be released for free on YouTube and Prime Video from today, March 5th to March 29th. You can watch a digest version of Season 1 in two parts on YouTube, and all eight episodes of Season 1 on Prime Video for free.
