The latest merchandise to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon is a pair of Puma Suede sneakers that bring the famous imagery of Pikachu to a pair of premium trainers. This unique crossover is part of the numerous merchandise releases marking the occasion.
Pokémon has been featured on various clothing items since its early days, ranging from shoes to hoodies to underwear. The franchise's iconic designs, especially those of the most famous Pokémon like Pikachu, appear on almost every product imaginable, contributing significantly to The Pokémon Company's empire through merchandise sales.
The Pokémon Puma Suede Sneakers
Via Sneaker News, the Pokémon Puma Suede sneakers will be available for US$300. An early launch event for these sneakers is scheduled for July 25, 2026, in Brooklyn, New York, at 101 Union Street, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. EST, offering New York City-based fans a chance to purchase them before the wider launch.
The design of the Pokémon Puma Suede sneakers is inspired by Pikachu, featuring a yellow, black, and silver color scheme with lightning bolts across the fabric. A charm in the shape of Pikachu's head adorns the laces, and a red and black lightning bolt is placed on the heel, matching the red dots on Pikachu's face. 
Pokémon's Ongoing Success
Original fans of Pokémon, who were around during the Pokémon Red & Blue era, are now in their 30s and 40s, often having the most disposable income, making them the ideal audience for the massive amounts of Pokémon merchandise being released for the 30th anniversary. The original 151 Pokémon are being featured prominently in these releases.
With Pokémon Winds & Waves set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, the series is entering a new era, rumored to be the biggest to date, with Generation 10 titles supposedly adding fresh mechanics and evolutions for existing Pokémon.
