The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 Premiere Date Announced
The wait is over for fans of The Apothecary Diaries as the official premiere date for Season 3 has been announced. The new season will premiere on October 2, 2026, and will feature Maomao's new adventures with her companion Jinshi.
Toho Animation released the first Season 3 trailer, which teases an exciting storyline about a potential famine tied to a legend about an immortal maiden. Maomao's curiosity gets the best of her, leading her to investigate this fable in hopes of saving her people ahead of what looks to be an agricultural nightmare.
New Characters and Storylines
Season 3 introduces a new character, Bai Niangniang, a mysterious fairy played by Reina Ueda. Ueda described her character as "a mysterious girl whose true identity and purpose are shrouded in mystery." The balance between seriousness and comedy in the show is exquisite, and Ueda hopes fans will enjoy peeking into a part of Maomao and the others' lives.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 will be released in two parts, with the first half premiering in October 2026 and the second half in spring 2027. This accommodates the release of the first official theatrical anime movie, The Apothecary Diaries: The Deceased Empress' Treasure, which will be released in Japan on December 11, 2026.
Reina Ueda, who currently plays Hana Usami in Black Torch, will play the role of the mysterious fairy, Bai Niangniang, in The Apothecary Diaries Season 3. The new anime opening theme song, "Kumo wo Nuke Kazashita e Watashi Dake," is performed by Yorushika.
The Apothecary Diaries Seasons 1–2 are available to stream on Crunchyroll. Fans can catch up on the series before the premiere of Season 3 in October.
