Comiket Documentary Featuring Kazuhiko Shimamoto

A special documentary program on the doujinshi sales event ``Comic Market,'' which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025, ``Our History of Comiket: 50 Years Spun by Love,'' will be broadcast on NHK General TV from 11:00 pm today, March 1st. Kazuhiko Shimamoto, who has exhibited 51 times, cosplayer Enako, anime/special effects researcher Ryusuke Hikawa, critic Tsunehiro Uno, and others will appear. Sumire Uesaka will be in charge of the narration.

Comiket, also known as Comic Market, was first held in 1975 and has influenced many creative activities in Japan, including manga, anime, games, and cosplay. 300,000 people visited Comiket in the winter of 2025 over two days. The program covers not only the two days of Comiket, but also the setup that took place the day before, and the review session after the event. Additionally, we interviewed people involved in the Comic Market Preparation Committee, exhibitors, volunteers, veteran fans, and participating cosplayers. Valuable materials that will be shown for the first time on TV and nostalgic "Comiket" footage that remains on NHK will also appear.
