The Inspiration Behind the New Arc
"Chiikawa" and Tokyo Skytree collaborate again! The collaboration event “Chiikawa☆Hoshifuru Skytree (R) and Secret Island” began today, July 10th. We were able to experience a lot of attractions at the preview, including exhibitions, photo spots, limited gourmet food, and goods, so we'd like to tell you all about its charm in this report.
The manga ``Chiikawa'' serialized on X (formerly Twitter) by illustrator Nagano is a story of fun, heartrending, and slightly hard daily life told by unique characters such as Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi. In addition to winning the "Japan Character Awards Grand Prix" four times, becoming the first in history to win three times in a row, the anime, which has been broadcast since 2022, has been watched over 400 million times on YouTube, making it loved not only in Japan but all over the world.
Exhibits and Photo Spots
Chiikawa's first movie, Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island, will be released on July 24, 2026. This event commemorates its release and is the second collaboration with Tokyo Skytree in three years. The contents include exhibitions using event-limited visuals, photo spots, limited cafe menus, original goods, and special night-only performances, allowing you to fully enjoy the world of ``Chiikawa.''
The first thing that greets visitors is the Tembo Shuttle (elevator). The scenery is as if you were taking a boat to the ``secret island'' where the movie is set, and you will be drawn into the world of the story from the moment you step into the elevator.
When you arrive at the Tembo Galleria, 450 meters above the ground, you will be greeted by Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi dressed in event-limited costumes. A photo spot will be set up in the welcome area, and visitors can enjoy taking photos as they please.
There are photogenic spots throughout the exhibit, and the special feel of the event-only visuals is also appealing. All the characters are expressive and adorable, and you can't help but smile just by looking at them.
Limited Gourmet Food and Goods
SKYTREE CAFE, located 340 meters above ground, offers event-limited menus inspired by Chikawa and the others. The food and drinks are lined up to represent the cuteness of the characters, and are so complete that it feels like a waste to eat them.
In addition, event-limited goods will be sold at "SKYTREE SPACE" on the first floor and the online shop "Chikawa Market." There are many items that can only be obtained here, and there are also purchase benefits.
At night, a special video exclusive to this event will be screened at the SKYTREE ROUND THEATER (R), which uses the window glass of the observatory deck as a giant screen. In addition, special lighting of the Tokyo Sky Tree will be held, and the colors inspired by characters such as Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi will change every 100 seconds, brightening up the night sky.
