Crunchyroll's Taiwan Expansion
Crunchyroll subscribers in Taiwan now have access to a whole new version of the anime streaming giant, with a brand-new interface in Traditional Chinese and dozens of fan-favorite titles. The new interface comes along with same-day simulcasts of dozens of hit series, all of which are being localized for the Taiwanese audience.
Localized Content and Improved Subtitles
On top of the new interface, same-day simulcasts, and near-instant localizations, Crunchyroll has announced that it is continuing to work on introducing further Traditional Chinese content in the coming months. The streaming platform has also dedicated itself to improving subtitle quality and establishing and maintaining more consistent support across all languages and interfaces.
Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini said of the initiative, "Crunchyroll's expansion in Taiwan is only the beginning. We are committed to making a long-term investment in one of Asia’s most passionate anime communities. With Traditional Chinese support, the latest episodes streaming within one hour of their Japanese broadcasts, and an ever-expanding catalog of classic and new titles, we hope to provide fans with the best possible anime experience through Crunchyroll."
Fans and subscribers in Taiwan can also look forward to Crunchyroll taking center stage in Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center from July 23-27 for the upcoming Taipei Comic Exhibition. Building Fan Communities
Crunchyroll Chief Content Officer Asa Suehira recently discussed Netflix becoming the largest anime streaming platform for territories such as the U.S. and Brazil, explaining that Crunchyroll is not just a streaming service, but a platform that builds fan communities. While streaming serves as the entry point, Crunchyroll places immense value on how fans can experience anime in the real world, offering a range of experiences beyond streaming, including events, theatrical releases, e-commerce, and music, all centered around anime IP.
