A New Series Joins Weekly Shonen Jump: Roku's Odd House

In the latest 19th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump by Shueisha, which hit the stands today on April 6th, fans are treated to a fresh start. A brand-new series titled Roku's Odd House has officially begun its serialization. This new project comes from the mind of Mitsushi Nakamura, whom many of you will remember as the creator of the popular AGRAVITY BOYS. It is quite exciting to see him return to the magazine with such a unique premise.

The story of Roku's Strange House (also referred to as Roku no Oka na Ie) is being billed as a horror sitcom. It follows the life of Seiroku Akei, a high school student who is part of his school's science club. Seiroku is a bit of a skeptic; he is determined to use logic to prove that five legendary curses, known as the Kokubunji Tsukiyowa, simply do not exist. In the world of the manga, it is said that if someone completes a very specific ritual, they will break the seal of these curses. However, things go horribly wrong when Seiroku performs the ritual. Instead of proving they are fake, he ends up getting possessed by all five curses at the exact same time. This setup promises a lot of laughs mixed with supernatural elements, making it clear why you need to read Roku's Odd House as it develops.

Celebrating the Launch with an Official PV

To celebrate the debut of this series, an official promotional video (PV) has been released to give readers a taste of the art and vibe. The mix of horror and comedy is definitely something different for the current Jump lineup. Many readers are already discussing why you need to read Roku's Odd House because of Nakamura's signature comedic timing that worked so well in his previous works.

Other Major Updates in Weekly Shonen Jump

While we welcome a new series, we also have to say goodbye to another. In this same issue, Hideaki Nabe's manga Next-door Kozoe River has officially been completed. Fans of the series can look forward to the second and final volume of the book, which is scheduled for release on June 4th. The magazine is definitely in a state of transition right now.

Looking ahead, the upcoming issues of Weekly Shonen Jump are packed with even more big announcements:

  • Issue 20 (April 13th): Will feature the premiere of Summer and Hotarakago by Masayoshi Satosho, who previously gave us Autumn Leaves Kibushi.
  • Issue 21 (April 20th): Marks the highly anticipated return of Hideaki Sorachi, the legendary creator of Gintama, with his new series Class 2B Brave Destroyers.

It seems Shonen Jump is really pushing for a strong new generation of stories this spring. With creators like Mitsushi Nakamura and Hideaki Sorachi in the mix, manga readers have a lot to be happy about in the coming weeks.
