Goyu Kojima's ``Lone Wolf and Lone Wolf'', based on the original work by Kazuo Koike, has been adapted for the Kabuki stage. Starring Shido Nakamura as the main character, Hai Itto, and Shido's second son Natsuki Nakamura as his son, Daigoro, it will be performed in the daytime section of June Kabukiza's ``Rokugatsu Dai Kabuki'' from June 3rd to 25th at the Kabukiza Theater in Tokyo.

``Lone Wolf and Cub'' is a historical drama in which Haiichito, whose wife was killed by the Yagyu clan's scheme and his status as a Kogisuke delinquent was banished, sets out on a journey of revenge with his son, Daigoro. The TV drama starring Yorozuya Kinnosuke, which aired from 1973 to 1976, was a huge hit, and in 1974 it was adapted into a stage play at the Kabuki-za Theater in June at the Yorozuya Kinnosuke Special Performance. The new Kabuki play will be directed by film directors Masanori Inoue and Shido.

Shido commented, ``I have loved Lone Wolf and Lone Wolf, which my uncle Yorozuya Kinnosuke performed in a historical drama on TV, since I was a child, and this time, I am looking forward to performing on the Kabukiza stage in June, a month that holds a lot of meaning for us at Yorozuya, along with Natsuki as Daigoro of Haiitto.'' Natsuki Nakamura wrote, ``I'm looking forward to June. I'll do my best!'' Advance ticket sales will begin on May 14th at 10am.
