Celebrating a Legend: Kenjiro Tsuda's 30th Anniversary Photobook Launch

The highly anticipated photo book "Kenjiro Tsuda PHOTOBOOK since 1995", which celebrates the incredible 30-year journey of Kenjiro Tsuda as a voice actor, was officially released today, March 14th. To mark this big milestone, a press conference was organized at the Tsutaya Bookstore SHARE LOUNGE in Daikanyama, Tokyo. It was quite a moment for fans who have followed his work over the decades.

Kenjiro Tsuda himself attended the event, looking as sharp as ever. Most of us know him for his iconic roles in Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and of course, his performance in Golden Kamuy. But his talent isn't just limited to the recording booth. Lately, he has been very active in live-action dramas too. In 2025 alone, he was part of popular series like Anpan, the taiga drama Berabou, and the Sunday theater production The Royal Family. Right now, he is even playing a lead role in the drama Ramune Monkey. This new photobook basically tracks his whole career path starting from 1995 till today.

Reflections on Turning 50 and Staying Relevant

During the press meet, Tsuda shared some very humble thoughts. He mentioned that since he already released a book three years ago, he was quite surprised and grateful to be releasing another one now, especially since he is now over 50 years old. He told the media that he wanted to show both his "flat" or natural look and his more "sharp" professional look. Interestingly, he even included some of his own personal items in the photos, which is something he hasn't really done before. There’s also a long interview inside where he looks back on his past, making it a very personal project for him. When asked about his favorite shot—one where he is wearing a white suit—he shyly said he just chose it based on intuition, though he joked about being embarrassed to promote his own photos.

A Journey from Jakarta to Tokyo

The photobook features locations that are very close to his heart. He traveled back to Jakarta, where he spent his childhood. Tsuda was quite emotional about it, saying the changes there were "amazing." While there are many new skyscrapers now, he felt relieved that the lively spirit of the local markets and riversides is still the same. Back in Japan, they shot near Ochanomizu and Meidaimae, where he spent his days as a student. He visited his old university and noticed how some places have become quite fashionable compared to the "dirtier" student town vibe he remembers from his youth.

Support from the Industry: "Tsudaken's True Face"

One of the highlights of the book is a special project called "Tsudaken's True Face." In this section, various manga artists, voice actors, and actors who have worked with him shared their memories. Tsuda seemed really happy that so many people took the time to contribute despite their busy schedules. For instance, Satoru Noda, the brilliant creator of Golden Kamuy, even drew special illustrations for the book. Tsuda expressed deep gratitude for these careful and heartfelt comments from his colleagues.

Future Goals and Deluxe Edition Details

Looking ahead, Kenjiro Tsuda wants to keep working carefully as a voice actor while also pushing his boundaries in live-action acting. He admitted that the depth of acting can still be intimidating, but he hopes to reach his "ideal realm." He also mentioned with a wry smile that he wants to finally make some real progress on shooting a live-action movie this year.

For the hardcore fans, here is what the photobook includes:

  • A huge collection of professional photos from various life stages.
  • The "Tsudaken's True Face" section with industry tributes.
  • An extensive interview featuring nearly 20,000 characters.
  • A public display of his own personal belongings.

There is also a Deluxe Edition coming out on March 28th. This version is going to have extra bonuses like the "Tsuda Bunko" booklet (with 100 Q&As), a desk calendar, and even special audio bonuses. It’s definitely a must-have for anyone who appreciates his work.
