The Japanese theme song for the Sony Pictures-distributed movie 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' (released simultaneously in Japan and the US on July 31st) has been decided to be the new song 'Brand New' by Mrs. GREEN APPLE. This information was announced at 8 a.m. on Friday, July 3rd, and is still being echoed online.
On the same day, a special video featuring Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, director Destin Daniel Cretton, and Mrs. Fans are paying attention to the collaboration that transcends the boundaries between movies and music.
Feige commented to Japanese fans in the video, 'They are my favorite band. I felt their love and passion for Spider-Man. I can't wait for everyone to hear this song.'

With a brilliant track record including three consecutive wins at the Japan Record Awards and 13th place in the world artist ranking (as of 2025), Mrs. Nakamura has been known as a Spider-Man fan since his debut. This appointment can be said to be the fruition of that long-standing love.
The Making of 'Brand New'
In February of this year, the actress visited Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles and held a meeting with Feige, series producer Amy Pascal, and Marvel music supervisor Dave Jordan. It is said that they discussed the direction of the Japanese version of the theme song while sharing top secret information about the work. Furthermore, the song was completed after many online meetings with Director Cretton.
Motoki Omori, who wrote and composed the song, focused on the fact that when Spider-Man shoots a thread, it turns into a universal hand sign that means 'I LOVE YOU,' and he incorporated that motif into the beginning of the chorus. 'As a movie fan and MCU fan, I participated because I wanted to convey the significance of the existence of the Japanese version of the theme song.I am very happy to be able to be involved with Spider-Man, who I have loved since I was a child.'

Behind the Theme Song
'Brand New' is said to be a song that symbolizes Peter Parker's determination to continue fighting as a 'dear neighbor' even in loneliness, after deciding to erase himself from the memories of his loved ones in the previous movie 'Spider-Man: No Way Home.' It will be used in the end credits of the Japanese dubbed version.
Even though some time has passed since the announcement, opinions are still being actively exchanged on social media, with some saying, 'It's not the Mrs.'s fault,' and 'I don't think a Japanese theme song would fit a foreign movie, no matter who does it.' There are also discussions about the method of creating a 'Japanese theme song.' On the other hand, there are many voices of expectation such as 'An unexpected collaboration!' and 'I can't wait to see how the worldviews of Spider-Man and Mrs. GREEN APPLE will collide.'
