Team 7 Reunites in the Official Naruto Card Game
Team 7 is reuniting for more adventures, as a trailer for the next big iteration of the Naruto franchise has revealed some of the characters that will be making an appearance, including the heroes and villains from the earliest days of the manga. The Naruto franchise has had several time jumps, with the titular character being a young boy during the first part of the series, growing into a teenager in the Shippuden era, and currently a father in the Boruto series, where his son has taken the reins.
Despite this, many fans still adore the original Team 7 lineup, when Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura went on missions with Kakashi throughout the Land of Fire. The Naruto Card Game has now been shown off just ahead of Gen Con 2026 (July 30-Aug. 2) with a trailer that outlines how it's played, as well as some of the characters who will be appearing.
Naruto Card Game's Rules Have Been Revealed
The trailer also confirmed how the Naruto Card Game works, and its rules will be familiar to fans of the One Piece TCG. Each deck has a Leader Card, and the main way to win is by KO'ing the opponent's Leader. There are also Character Cards, including EX Character Cards that have specific summoning requirements, Chakra Cards, which are used as a power source, and a Summon Card that's needed to play characters.
Fans will be waiting a while to own the Naruto Card Game, as it's not launching until Summer 2027, but play sessions are being held at various conventions around the world until its official release. The Naruto Card Game will feature characters from all eras of the franchise, including Boruto, with original artwork and various rarities. The cards revealed so far have confirmed that Team 7 will be making an appearance, and players will be able to make decks using them.
Original Artwork and Gameplay Mechanics
The original artwork is produced specifically for the card game, as well as including pieces of the Naruto manga, which will come in various rarities. Each deck in the Naruto Card Game is composed of 57 cards (a Leader, 50 Characters, 5 Chakra, and a Summon), with the Characters needing to match their Leader's color. Cards can be played face down and flipped to activate effects, emulating the fact that Naruto is about ninjas who rely on stealth over brute force.
