Volume 1 of Takashi Ikeda's ``Bakepen Mamiko-chan'' was released today, March 12th.

Mamiko Maeno, who has just become a junior high school student, is asked by her mother if there is anything she would like to do, and remembering that her late grandfather used to take pictures with a camera, she replies, ``I wonder if it's something like photography...'' When her grandmother found out about the situation, she sent her a film camera that was a memento of her grandfather and was called a "Bakepen" because it was a "Pentax as big as a monster." The story depicts the days of Mamiko, who is fascinated by this bucket pen and expands her world. The work is currently being serialized in Shogakukan's Bikkomi.
