Shohei Manabe Pleased with "The Great Sins of Kujo" Trailer

Shohei Manabe's Dark Legal Drama Gets a Gritty Netflix Makeover

The wait is finally over for fans of gritty psychological dramas. The key art and main trailer for the upcoming Netflix series "The Great Sins of Kujo", which is based on the hard-hitting original work by Shohei Manabe, have finally been released. For those who don't know, Manabe is the same genius who gave us the legendary Ushijima the Loan Shark, so you already know this is not going to be some light-hearted courtroom drama. This project has been generating a lot of buzz lately, and looking at the trailer, it is quite clear why everyone is saying why The Great Sins of Kujo is the next must read manga and anime masterpiece in the making.

A Deep Dive into the World of Kujo's Deadly Sin

The story, often referred to as "Kujo's Deadly Sin", is a high-stakes crime entertainment narrative. It focuses on Masato Kujo, played by the very talented Yuya Yagira. Kujo is not your typical hero lawyer; he is known as an "unscrupulous" legal expert who specifically takes on the most troublesome and "dark" clients. We are talking about semi-grads, ex-convicts, and people who are basically living on the edge of society. Joining him in this chaotic office is Shinji Karasuma, an elite lawyer who somehow ends up working alongside Kujo. The contrast between these two characters is surely going to be one of the highlights of the show. This Netflix series will be distributed exclusively worldwide starting April 2nd, and it is definitely something to mark on your calendars.

The Star-Studded Cast and Key Art Revelations

The newly released key art gives us a glimpse of the heavy hitters involved in this production. Apart from Yuya Yagira, we have a stellar lineup including:

  • Hokuto Matsumura in a pivotal role
  • Eliza Ikeda bringing her unique charm to the screen
  • Keita Machida as part of the complex legal and criminal web
  • Takuma Otoo and Tsuyoshi Muro adding more depth to the supporting cast

The original author, Shohei Manabe, has already had the chance to watch all 10 episodes of the series, and his reaction was quite hilarious but honest. He said, "It was so interesting that I've already watched it three times (lol)." For an author to watch his own adaptation three times is a very big compliment. He mentioned that even though it was originally his idea, while watching the drama, he kept wondering "What's going to happen next?" like a regular fan. He believes that why The Great Sins of Kujo is the next must read manga and anime masterpiece is because the live actors can convey raw emotions through their breathing and eyes in a way that is different from the manga.

Manabe also warned the fans that once you start watching, you won't be able to stop until the end. He joked that people should be careful not to lose sleep because of it. The chemistry and interactions between Kujo and Karasuma are expected to be very addictive for the audience.
