For those who may not be familiar, "Mouse's Waistcoat" (or Nezumi-kun no Chokki) is actually a very famous picture book series created by Yoshio Nakae and Noriko Ueno. It was first published by Poplar Publishing all the way back in 1974. Because it has such a long history, many people believe nezumi-kun's waistcoat: why this classic children’s anime is a must-watch for all ages is due to its timeless appeal.
Production Details and CG Animation Style
One very interesting thing about this adaptation is that the anime will be produced entirely using CG. This decision was made to specifically capture the unique feel and hand-drawn atmosphere of the original picture books, which is not always easy to do with traditional animation. The PV also gave us a first look at the voice acting, revealing that Kenjiro Tsuda and Mamiko Noto will be handling the voices for all the characters, including Nezumi-kun and Nemi-chan. Hearing such experienced actors take on these roles is definitely a big plus for the fans.
The promotional video also features a snippet of the catchy theme song. We even got some comments from the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra members, Atsushi Yanaka and Kinichi Mogi, about working on this project. Tsuyoshi Muro, who provided the vocals, and Kun Sakana, who played the soprano saxophone, also shared their excitement. It seems like the whole team really enjoyed bringing this classic story to life.
