"The Vessel of Life": Final 100 Volumes, Last 99 Free

The final 100th volume of Kimiko Uehara's ``Inochi no Vessel'' was released today, April 16th. To commemorate this, volumes 1 to 99 of the book will be available for free for a limited time of 100 hours on Akita Shoten's web manga site Champion Cross.

"Vessel of Life" is a human drama in which Kyoko Ariyoshi, an obstetrician and gynecologist, develops the sanctity of life and the bonds of family as she meets husbands, children, and patients with various circumstances. It began serialization in Eve Special for Mrs. in 1991, and moved to Four Mrs. (both published by Akita Shoten) in 1995. In March of this year, the series ended 35 years ago.

To commemorate the conclusion, Souffle has published an interview article with Uehara. Uehara's "last inking" video was also released on YouTube.

Some episodes of "Vessel of Life" are also available for free on Comic Natalie. You can read the first episode where Kyoko is visited by a woman who is said to be pregnant with Kyoko's husband's child, the second episode where unknown twin babies are abandoned in the cold, and the third episode where the possibility of a half-sibling between Kyoko and her childhood friend emerges.
