Hirayasumi Anime to Premiere on NHK General in January 2027
The much-awaited anime adaptation of Hirayasumi, which is based on the original manga work by Keigo Shinzo, is finally confirmed to broadcast on NHK General TV starting from January 2027. This is really huge news for fans who have been following the manga since its beginning. Along with this announcement, a fresh teaser visual and a special promotional video for the project have also been released to give us a first look at the production quality.
A Heartwarming Story of Simple Living
For those who don't know, Hirayasumi tells a very touching story about Hiroto Ikuta. He is a 29-year-old free spirit who doesn't have a permanent job or even a girlfriend. He lives quite a relaxed life in a traditional one-story house that was gifted to him by a kind elderly neighbor. The plot revolves around him and the different people who gather at his place, all of whom are dealing with their own "problems" that make their daily lives a bit difficult to manage. It is a beautiful cozy slice of life manga that focuses on the comfort of human connection.
The original manga has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits since April 2021 and has gained a lot of critical acclaim. Because of its popularity, it was even made into a live-action drama back in November 2025. In the newly released teaser visual, we can see Hiroto walking and pushing his motorcycle right in front of the one-story house, accompanied by Ba-chan. The special video is also quite nice, featuring a mix of teaser visuals, actual anime illustrations, beautiful background art, and some very soothing music.

Top-Tier Production Staff and Studio Details
The staff list for the anime is looking quite solid. Kei Suezawa, who is famous for directing Fate/Grand Order - Camelot - Wandering;Agateram and the 5th episode of FLCL Progressive, will be taking the lead. He is not just directing but also handling the series composition and the screenplay. Here are some of the key members working on the show:

- Character Design: Naoyuki Asano (known for his work on Urusei Yatsura)
- Art Director: Mika Nishimura (from Dead Dead Demons Dedededede Destruction)

The music will definitely play a big role in setting the atmospheric tone of the series. As we heard before, the animation production is being done by Production +h., the same studio that gave us Extraterrestrial Boys and Girls. Director Suezawa mentioned that he was really drawn to the story because it feels like a group of people who have known each other for ages, all coming together in a very familiar and nostalgic landscape.
If you are planning to visit the ShoPro booth at AnimeJapan 2026, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 28th and 29th, you can see the teaser visual and special video there in person.
