Aruna Comics Shifts to Flapper and Kadokomi

Major Shakeup: Comic Aruna Ceases Publication and Moves Series to Flapper and Kadokomi

There is some really big news coming from the world of manga today. Comic Aruna, which is published by KADOKAWA, has officially announced that it will be ceasing its publication. The April issue, which just hit the stands on 17th March, is actually going to be the very final one. But you don't have to worry too much if you were following the stories there, because the serialized works are not just disappearing. They are being transferred to Monthly Comic Flapper and the Kadokomi website so that the series can continue without any break in the story.

If we look back, Comic Aruna first started its journey on 13th July 2022. It was originally born as a special supplement for Monthly Comic Flapper. The main idea was to bring together manga created by popular SNS creators and social media influencers. For about 3 years and 8 months, it has been providing a unique platform for these artists. This final release marks the 45th issue in total. The cover of this goodbye issue is looking quite grand with an illustration of Magical Girl Witch Trial (Mahou Shoujo no Majo Saiban), which is based on the original work by Acacia and illustrated by Setsuna Tokito. As a special gift, fans are also getting a B3 size big poster of the same series. For those who want to remember the magazine's legacy, everything you need to know about Comic Aruna will show just how much impact it had during its run.

Comic Aruna April Issue: Transfers and Final Chapters

Now, let’s talk about where your favourite stories are heading. It is quite a big list, so you might want to take notes. The following titles are officially moving to the Monthly Comic Flapper magazine:

  • Isekai no Shuyaku wa Wareware da\!
  • Nichijou Lock
  • Kaitai
  • Magical Girl Witch Trial

On the other hand, several other popular titles are shifting to the digital platform, Kadokomi. If you are looking for these, you will find them there soon:

  • Ichigun Danshi wa Koishiteru
  • Hanataba
  • Saimusha Chika Dol Muteki-chan\! Ura Shakai ni Osareteimasu
  • Shiromonogatari
  • Sama Fallin’ Jail
  • Miripro — Musuu no Tsunagari o Mezashite —

Endings and New Beginnings

While most series are continuing elsewhere, a few have reached their conclusion in this final April issue. Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru by Kagiri Araido and Akatsuki no Himari to Kuma by Takahiro Sakai have both published their final chapters. Also, Dungeon Band by Araido has finished its "Part 1," so we might see more of it later. Honestly, it is a bit sad to see a magazine go like this, but seeing the series find new homes is a relief. If you are curious about the magazine's history, everything you need to know about Comic Aruna covers the whole story from its start as an SNS-focused monthly to this final 45th issue. It’s definitely the end of a very interesting chapter for KADOKAWA's lineup.
