The Flowers of Evil: Ano Sings New Theme Song as Trailer Teases Dark Incidents

There is some really big news for fans of psychological stories. The talented artist ano has officially had her new song, Aibansan (which translates to Love Dinner), selected as the main theme song for the upcoming live-action drama The Flowers of Evil. This show is based on the legendary and somewhat disturbing original work by Shuzo Oshimi. To make things even more exciting for collectors, the first two volumes of the original Flower of Evil manga will be released with special covers. These new editions will feature Fuku Suzuki, who is playing the main lead role in the drama, right on the front.

The drama version of The Flowers of Evil is scheduled to start its broadcast journey on TV Tokyo and several other local channels from April 9th. Recently, a brand-new trailer video was released to give everyone a tiny glimpse into the many twisted incidents and emotional chaos that will happen throughout the series. This trailer is actually quite special because it uses the theme song Ai Bansan to set the mood. Interestingly, this is the very first time that ano has actually performed a theme song for a television drama, which is a major milestone in her career.

Special Reprints and Casting Details

In addition to the show, the original Hana of Evil manga is getting a fresh reprint. Volumes 1 and 2 are going to be sold with Ano and Suzuki together on the cover, which is a nice touch for those following the live-action news. Fuku Suzuki is really getting into character; he apparently played Nakamura for the Volume 1 cover and Kasuga for Volume 2, appearing in the exact same poses as the original manga artwork. If you prefer physical books, the paper version will be hit the bookstores from March 10th. For the digital readers, the electronic version will be distributed across various online stores starting from the 6th.

One thing to keep in mind is that the electronic viewing period is limited. You can only view it until the end of July, and after that, it will no longer be available. This creates a bit of urgency for fans who want to see the flowers of evil content before it disappears from the digital shelves.

Legacy of Shuzo Oshimi's Masterpiece

Flower of Evil is widely considered one of Shuzo Oshimi's greatest masterpieces. It was originally serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine under the Kodansha label from 2009 to 2014. The story is quite heavy, as it deeply depicts the intense anxiety, inner conflict, and immense pain faced by young boys and girls in a suffocating small town. The narrative centers on middle school students Takao Kasuga and the enigmatic Sawa Nakamura, whose lives become entwined in a dangerous contract after a secret act of theft.

If you are looking for a deep story about obsession and guilt, then the flowers of evil is definitely something you should check out. The series has always been a bit of a cult classic, and this new drama seems like it will bring all that dark atmosphere to life quite perfectly for a new audience. Here are a few things to look forward to in this adaptation:

  • Haunting Atmosphere: The trailer suggests a very faithful recreation of the manga's moody setting.
  • Fresh Performances: Fuku Suzuki and Ano are expected to bring a lot of depth to their complex characters.
  • Intense Soundtrack: With Ano's unique vocals, the theme song adds a modern but eerie layer to the production.

It is truly a great time to be a fan of the series, especially with the April 9th premiere date coming up fast. Let's see how this drama handles the most iconic scenes from the manga.
