The teaser visual for the original animation project 'WASTED CHEF' by director Takayuki Hirao of 'Movie Love Ponpo-san' has been released.

The Storyline and Themes
The staff of 'Movie Love Ponpo-san' has reunited for 'WASTED CHEF,' with character design by Shingo Adachi, music by Kenta Matsukuma, and production by CLAP. The teaser visual depicts a scene in which two characters are happily making hamburgers in a warm atmosphere. On the other hand, the disturbing catchphrase is attached: 'On that day, 'you' and 'taste' disappeared from the world,' suggesting that a major turning point will come for these two.
Behind the Production
Director Hirao and producer Ryoichiro Matsuo of the animation production studio CLAP took to the stage at the Annecy Animation Showcase at the 79th Cannes Film Festival held from May 15th to 17th. Both men revealed that they tried combining 'cooking' and 'science fiction' to express the theme of 'value' in modern times, and that the word 'restorare', which means 'healing and recovery' in Latin, was key.
The unique blend of genres and themes in 'WASTED CHEF' is set to captivate audiences, offering a fresh perspective on what it means to find value in a world that often seems to have lost its sense of taste and appreciation for the simple things.
