100% Doraemon & Friends Event Makes Grand Entry in Tokyo
The wait is finally over for fans in Japan! Fujiko F. Fujio's legendary creation, Doraemon, has taken over the city with the massive event titled "100% Doraemon & Friends in Tokyo". This grand exhibition officially opened today, March 27th, at the newly developed Tokyo Dream Park in Ariake, Tokyo. It is a very big moment because, even though this tour has been traveling all over the world to places like Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Bangkok, this is actually the first time it has landed on Japanese soil.

Above you can see the special "Teacher's desk" area, which is part of the "100% Doraemon Manga World Exhibition". This specific section is getting a lot of attention because it recreates the actual workplace of the creator, Fujiko. It gives fans a very personal look at where the magic started. For many of us, the timeless magic of Doraemon is something we grew up with, and seeing this workspace in person is quite emotional.
Inside the 100% Doraemon Manga World Exhibition
This event is definitely one of the biggest in the history of the franchise. It doesn't just focus on one thing; it covers everything from the original manga and the long-running anime to the famous feature-length movies. The main indoor attraction, the "Manga World Exhibition", is split into nine unique areas. Each area is designed to make you feel like you have stepped right into a comic book page. Here are some of the main highlights you shouldn't miss:
- The Teacher's Desk: A very detailed recreation of Fujiko F. Fujio's actual studio environment.
- World of Ladybug Comics: This area brings famous manga scenes to life using 3D displays.
- Nobita's Manga Room: A super cool experience that uses 3D projection mapping to animate the room.
- Large Feature Doraemon Area: Here, you can see rare original drawings and stand next to life-sized Doraemon figures from the movies.
Outdoor Fun at 100% Doraemon Park
If you think the indoor stuff is all, then you are mistaken. The outdoor area, known as "100% Doraemon Park", is where you will find the 12-meter-tall giant Doraemon balloon. It is honestly one of the largest balloons ever made for the series and looks quite striking against the Tokyo skyline. There is also a "100% Blue Carpet" where you can see Doraemon and his gang dressed up in very fancy formal costumes, making it a perfect spot for photos.
The organizers have also introduced some Japan-exclusive goodies that were not available in other countries. In the shop area, you can find special keychains where Doraemon is shaped like a Sakura flower, a Sumo wrestler (Osumou), an Onigiri, and even a Shiba Inu dog. These are only available at the Japan venue, so collectors are already rushing to get them. Also, they have launched original books like the "Tentomushi Comics Doraemon 100% Volume" and a complete friend encyclopedia.
It is really amazing to see how the timeless magic of Doraemon continues to bring people together after so many years. The "100% Doraemon & Friends in Tokyo" exhibition will remain open until September 30th, so you have plenty of time to plan your visit to Ariake and experience this nostalgia trip yourself.
