Apple‑Inspired Balloon Takes Flight Over Manhattan
Sanrio has finally answered fans' long‑awaited pleas, unveiling a fresh Hello Kitty balloon that proudly grips a ruby‑red apple—an unmistakable salute to New York City. The massive sphere, roughly 28.4 feet wide and towering over 33 feet tall, will dominate the sky as the parade celebrates its centennial.
Exclusive Merchandise Hits Macy's Shelves
To complement the aerial debut, Sanrio teamed up with Macy's for a limited‑edition 23‑item collection. From chic women’s tees and adorable girls' dresses to a stylish Loungefly backpack, each piece showcases balloon‑inspired artwork of Hello Kitty and her friends. A Kidrobot plush bag charm and pin set round out the lineup, giving collectors fresh ways to celebrate the holiday tradition.

The merchandise launched online on October 13, with an in‑store rollout at Macy's Herald Square flagship beginning October 15. Select Macy's locations across the country will also stock the items, ensuring fans nationwide can snag a piece of the celebration.

Looking Back: Hello Kitty’s Parade History
This marks Hello Kitty’s first appearance in nine years. She first floated over the streets in 2007 with a superhero‑themed balloon, followed by an airplane design that lingered until 2017. The new apple‑themed balloon becomes her third design and twelfth overall appearance, cementing her status as a beloved parade staple.
Fans can tune in to NBC or stream via Peacock at 8:30 a.m. Eastern on Thanksgiving morning to watch Hello Kitty’s long‑awaited return to the skies above Manhattan.
