Hideaki Sorachi's debut work, one-shot ``Danderion'', has been made into an animated Netflix series and will be distributed exclusively worldwide from April. The role of Tetsuo Tanba will be played by Chikahiro Kobayashi, and the role of Misaki Kurotetsu will be played by Megumi Han.
``Danderion'' is the story of Tanba and Kurotetsu, members of the ``Japan Angel Federation Transfer Department,'' who search for souls that are unable to attain Buddhahood due to their lingering regrets, and send them to the afterlife. The two of them are busy doing angel work, and are portrayed with plenty of humanity and humor. The work won an honorable mention at Weekly Shonen Jump's (Shueisha) ``71st Tenkaichi Manga Award'' in 2002, and was also included in the first volume of ``Gintama.''
The released teaser visual depicts Tamba and Kurotetsu riding two bicycles. The animation director is Daisuke Mataga, and the series composition is Yosuke Suzuki. NAZ will be producing the animation. The anime consists of 7 episodes. Original elements are added, and the past of Tamba and Kurotetsu, which was not depicted in the original work, is revealed.
Sorachi jokingly commented, ``Apparently Netflix doesn't have the word delicate, like taking a debut novel that I don't reread too much because it's embarrassing, and turning it into an anime and expanding it.'' Kobayashi says of the work, ``It makes me laugh a lot and moves my heart a lot.'' Ban sent a message saying, ``Even though I feel like I'm interfering with Gintama, I appreciate your continued support of this work, which features Soratism and Silver Soul throughout.''
