New Series by Junko Ike: Go Around 100 Times and Cry Out for Love Launches in LaLa

Exciting news for all manga fans out there! Junko Ike has just launched her brand-new series titled Go around 100 times and cry out for love. This much-awaited manga actually started its serialization in the April issue of LaLa (published by Hakusensha), which was released today on February 24th. It is quite a special moment because, along with this launch, a big giveaway project is also being held to celebrate Ike’s 15th anniversary as a professional painter. This is really a great time for her long-time followers to get their hands on some exclusive merchandise.

Go around 100 times and cry out for love opening color page is definitely something you should view in high quality to appreciate the art. If you are looking for a fresh story, this new series is about Iroha, a high school girl who happens to be the daughter of a former company president. Then we have Kyogoku, who is the heir of a very wealthy family but is known for always causing some kind of trouble.

A Story of Duty, Accidents, and Unexpected Demands

The plot is quite interesting as it follows Iroha (also referred to as Kaba in some contexts), who is strictly obeying her late grandfather's orders. She spends almost all her days busy with heavy studies and working part-time jobs. However, because of extreme lack of sleep, she accidentally falls down the stairs one day. The person who ends up getting hurt under her fall is none other than Kyogoku, her classmate. Since Iroha is a scholarship student and really needs to keep that status to stay exempt from tuition fees, she quietly slips away without admitting she was the one who pushed him down. But as luck would have it, the very next day, a bone-broken Kyogoku finds her out and orders her to basically become his "obedient and smart dog" as compensation.

To celebrate Junko Ike's 15th anniversary, the magazine is doing a really cool giveaway:

  • Acrylic Stands: 15 lucky winners will get stands featuring original illustrations from Ike's past serialized works.
  • Postcards: As a double chance, 135 people who didn't win the stands will receive special postcards.

LaLa 50th Anniversary Special Projects and One-Shots

The current issue of LaLa is also packed with other content. There is a color article featuring a roundtable discussion between Ririko Tsujita and Akimoto Akimoto. This is part of the 3rd installment of the LaLa 50th anniversary project. Fans can even enter a lottery where 3 winners will get colored paper with their autographs. Also, a very interesting collaboration one-shot called Substitute☆First Kiss was published. This one is written by Tsujita and illustrated by Akimoto. It is a slapstick romantic comedy involving a high school girl reuniting with her first love and a bird spirit who has regrets in this world.

The appendix for this month’s issue includes some very nice frame stickers with famous scenes from LaLa works and a booklet with 5 one-shots from rising stars. There's also an ongoing project for Emiko Nakano's Fiancée wa Dote Ai no Pretense volume 7. Looking ahead, the May issue coming on March 24th will have a talk between Hari Tokeno and Ken Saito. For those who enjoy deep emotional plots, knowing why you need to read this story will help you understand the hype behind Junko Ike's return.
