Horror Game Kinki Spiritual Bureau Gets Comic Adaptation
The world of Japanese indie gaming is buzzing because the super popular horror shooting game Kinki Spiritual Bureau, which was originally developed by Noto Kirifuei (also known as Noto Muteki), has officially started its manga journey. Fans of the game can now catch the comic version in the May issue of Young King Hours by Shonen Gahosha, which just released today on March 30th. The responsibility for the art and execution has been handed over to Yunoko Sho, who is tasked with bringing this bizarre and action-packed world to the pages of the magazine.

A Unique Take on the Horror Genre
If you have played the game, you know it is not your typical "hide and run" type of horror. Instead, it features Mizuki Shiraishi, a certified exorcist who somehow manages to look professional while wearing a sailor suit. The story kicks off when she travels to a remote village to investigate some very strange and mysterious phenomena that have basically wiped the village's presence off the internet. It is a very cool concept where "horror x gun action" meets government bureaucracy. Basically, Shiraishi does not just run from ghosts; she treats them as "illegal ghosts" and uses heavy firearms to exterminate them. For many fans, Kinki Spiritual Bureau represents a fresh breath in a genre that often feels repetitive.
The narrative follows Shiraishi as she explores the missing villagers' mystery while getting radio support from her boss Kohinata and her junior Maruoka. The transition to manga is expected to delve deeper into these character dynamics. We can really expect some high-octane panels as firearms meet the supernatural in Saiga Village. Many are already saying this manga will help people understand the deep lore of the Kinki Spiritual Bureau universe even better.
Updates from Young King Hours
While one journey begins, others are coming to an end. This same issue of Young King Hours also contains the final chapters for two other series. Fukudaikumi’s work, Desert no Hana, and Keito Yoshikawa’s Yokohama Twilight Phantom Kaiji (which is based on the original work by Ryoe Tsukimura) have both been completed. It is a bit of a mix of emotions for the readers today.
- New Release: Kinki Spiritual Bureau manga debut by Yunoko Sho.
- Series Completed: Desert no Hana and Yokohama Twilight Phantom Kaiji.
- Volume Releases: Both final volumes for the completed series are set to hit the shelves on May 29th.
It is definitely a very busy time for Shonen Gahosha. With the quirky charm of Mizuki Shiraishi now entering the manga world, the "horror x gun action" genre is surely going to find a lot of new followers who enjoy a good fight against the spirits.
