Kodansha held a new manga award, "KMA AWARD: MANGAKA DISCOVERY," which is open to entries from all over the world.
"KMA AWARD: MANGAKA DISCOVERY" is a manga award established based on the belief of "discovering potential, not perfection." This will be Kodansha's largest attempt to discover global talent to date. You can apply through the official global platform "Kodansha Manga Academy" for aspiring manga creators from all over the world, regardless of nationality or experience. Original works of 8 to 60 pages written in English or Japanese are eligible, and there is no cost to submit. The deadline is 23:59 on July 22nd Japan time. Editors from Kodansha's seven manga editorial departments read all submitted works and judge their potential for professional serialization.
Also, award-winning benefits will be released. Those who pass the first round of selection will be able to receive individual feedback from Kodansha's manga editors. There will be a prize of 300,000 yen for the grand prize. The work will be published on Kodansha's digital manga platform K MANGA and Comic DAYS, and Kodansha's editors will support the production free of charge as exclusive creative partners. In addition, Kodansha will cover travel and accommodation expenses and will be invited to the award ceremony to be held in Tokyo.
