Magic Knight Rayearth: Legendary Warriors Return in October 2026

There is some really big news for all the 90s kids and CLAMP fans out there. The TV anime Magic Knight Rayearth, which is based on the legendary original work by CLAMP, is finally set to broadcast on TV Asahi’s national network "IMAnimation W" starting this October. Fans have been waiting for this for quite some time now, and finally, the cast members who will be voicing our three main characters, the Magic Knights, have been officially revealed. It is honestly such a nostalgic moment to see this series coming back to life with a modern touch.

This major announcement was made during a special stage event at AnimeJapan 2026, which was held at the Tokyo Big Sight on March 28th. The casting looks quite solid and has already started a lot of conversations online. Ayane Sakura has been chosen to play the role of Hikaru Shido, who is known for her straightforward heart and incredible drive. Then we have Rumi Okubo playing Umi Ryuzaki; she’s that cool and winning personality who is secretly very kind and cares deeply for her friends. Lastly, Rie Takahashi will be the voice of Jifu Hououji, a character with a very soft demeanor but someone who supports the team with her sharp and keen insight. Hearing these names, it feels like the magic knight rayearth legacy is in very safe hands.

New Visuals and Teaser Trailer Insights

Along with the cast reveal, the official team also released a fresh key visual and a teaser PV. The key visual is actually very powerful, showing Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu raising their swords against the beautiful but mysterious backdrop of Cefiro. If you look closely at the visual, you can also see Princess Emerode praying after she summons the three girls to this otherworldly land. Zagato is also there with a very fearless expression, and of course, Mokona—the mysterious little being who travels with the knights—is present too.

The teaser PV is even more exciting because it uses actual footage from the main story for the first time. We see the three girls meeting at the Tokyo Tower before they are suddenly pulled into another world. Seeing them face their destiny as magic knights in high-quality animation is just brilliant. It really explains why this fantasy classic is a must watch for both old fans and the new generation of anime lovers.

Messages from the Creators

What makes this even more special is that CLAMP themselves have sent original illustrations and heartfelt messages for the project. CLAMP mentioned that it was a real honour for them to hear the wonderful performances and the beautiful songs from the new cast members. They said that they, along with the fans, will continue to cherish this journey in Cefiro, where light, sea, and wind walk together. It is very rare to see such involvement, and it really shows how much love is being put into this remake.
