The start of a new project from Mononokai has been announced. The third medicine seller, Inui's Sword, was unveiled for the first time in the PV, and it has also been decided that three completely new novels will be published, each featuring the three medicine sellers Li, Kun, and Inui as the main characters.
Mononokai is a derivative of Ayakashi Bakaneko, which aired in 2006, and was made into a TV anime in 2007, creating a passionate following. This is a story about the main character, a drug dealer who travels around the world in order to quell the monsters caused by the Mononokai possessed by people's passions and grudges. In 2024, it will be revived as a completely new movie trilogy set in Ooku, and the final part, Mononokai the Movie Chapter 3: Snake God, is currently being screened as a huge hit.
The New Project Unveiled
A PV announcing the start of the new Mononokai project from this series, which marks the conclusion of the movie trilogy, has been released, and the third drug seller, Medicine Seller Inui no Tsurugi (hereinafter referred to as Inui's Medicine Seller), has been unveiled for the first time.
In the newly released PV for the launch of the Mononokai project, famous scenes from the TV series Rie no Yakusei and the movie version Kon no Yakusei are shown one after another. The movie Mononokai the Movie: Chapter 3: Snake God, which is currently in theaters, has become a hot topic due to the collaboration between the Kon's Medicine Seller and the Ryo's Medicine Seller. While the enthusiasm continues to cool down, at the end of the PV, the third person, Inui's Medicine Seller, is revealed.
The voice of Inui's Medicine Seller is provided by Hironori Araki, who played the role of the medicine seller in the play Mononoke and vividly embodies his mysterious appearance on stage. The character design will be handled by Kitsuneko Nagata, who also designed the characters for Mononoke the Movie.

Kenji Nakamura, the creator of the Mononokai series, also commented on the character of the Inui Medicine Seller, saying, Before the monsters begin, he has an easy-going and talkative atmosphere, but when the Mononoke appears, he has a dual personality that suddenly changes.
Hironori Araki, who plays the role of Inui's Sword, expressed his joy, saying, It means a lot to me to be able to play Inui's medicine seller, just as I played Ri's medicine seller and Kon's medicine seller on stage, and commented, I hope you can look forward to the day when it will be delivered to everyone.
Furthermore, in addition to Inui's Medicine Seller, Kadokawa Bunko will publish three completely new novels featuring three medicine sellers as the main characters: the TV series Medicine Seller Ri no Ken and the movie version Yakusei Kon no Ken. After the conclusion of the movie trilogy, new light will be shed on the setting that up to 64 drug sellers can exist, and the world will further expand.
