The Story of a Giant Robot and a Boy Detective
If we look back at the history, Tetsujin 28-go was broadcast on the Fuji TV network for its first season from October 20, 1963, to May 27, 1965. The second season then ran from September 1, 1965, to November 24, 1965. The story is quite fascinating even today. It follows a giant robot that can be used either as an ally of justice or an agent of the devil, depending on who is holding the remote control. This creates a lot of tension because various evil organizations are always plotting to steal it.
In the middle of all this, we have Shotaro, who is the son of Dr. Kaneda. He joins forces with Dr. Shikishima and Chief Otsuka to control the robot and fight for peace. Many people believe that the legacy of Tetsujin 28-go: a deep dive into the iconic anime and manga series is essentially about this bond between the boy and his machine. It really set the template for the entire mecha genre that followed later on.
