Kimiko Uehara's ``Vessel of Life'' reached its final episode in the April issue of Four Mrs. (Akita Shoten), released today, March 3rd.

"Vessel of Life" is a human drama in which Kyoko Ariyoshi, an obstetrician and gynecologist, develops the sanctity of life and the bonds of family as she meets husbands, children, and patients with various circumstances. It began serialization in Eve Special for Mrs. in 1991, and continued to publish works in Four Mrs. from 1995. The final 100 volumes of the book will be released on April 16th.

As for the secret to being able to continue serializing for so many years, Uehara said, ``I've been able to continue drawing manga because I love drawing manga.'' When my editor in charge at the time suggested the theme of ``the human relationship between female obstetrics and gynecology doctors and pregnant women'', I realized that I myself didn't know anything about pregnancy. After 35 years of serialization, I tried to make it a fun manga if there were people who would find it comforting. It's fun to draw something that the readers will enjoy reading." He also commented on the conclusion, ``The moment I put down my pen on the last page, I burst out with a sense of accomplishment and started smiling. I have no regrets. I want to enjoy the rest of my life.''
