A 7-year-old Otoka saves two chicks from chicken-like monsters called chickens in the forest, and then he remembers his past life as a Japanese office worker. Otoka's house is a large family of seven people, and there are days when they don't have enough food to eat. Although his family objects, saying he would keep a monster, Otoka declares that he will take responsibility and decides to raise the chicks. However, as the chicks begin to lay valuable eggs, their siblings begin to target them... Otoka, now 10 years old, finally decides to run away at night.
