Manga “Do you promise to make me the center?” has been decided to be made into a TV anime. Along with this, a teaser visual was released, along with a congratulatory illustration and comment from the original author, Jun Wakatsuki.
“Washi-sen” is a manga currently being serialized on Kodansha's manga app 'Magapoke' by Jun Wakatsuki, whose first episode was published on X (formerly Twitter) in 2023 and received approximately 40,000 reposts and 200,000 likes, creating a great response.
The Story Behind Washi-sen
Mizuki Natsuno is a member of the national idol group Melty Strawberry, but she is at the bottom of the group in terms of popularity and is on the verge of graduating. She had Koichi Okuda, the only enthusiastic fan in the world who continues to support her. The two were never supposed to meet, but by chance they end up living under the same roof.
What is the trajectory of the two people's growth as idols and endless efforts as they formed a secret cooperative relationship to aim for the center from the bottom? An unprecedented "Japanese Dream" story will unfold in which the promoters and fans will join forces to take on the challenge. The cumulative circulation has exceeded 200,000 copies, and the latest volume 6 will be released on July 9th.
Behind the Scenes
The teaser visual released in conjunction with the decision to make it into a TV anime depicts the relationships between idols and fans, as well as Mizuki and Koichi, who due to certain circumstances end up living in the same house, in different situations. Regarding the TV anime adaptation, original author Wakatsuki gave comments and illustrations such as, ``I can't wait to see Melst singing and dancing and Koichi waving a penlight!''
Furthermore, to commemorate the TV anime adaptation, it has been revealed that the contents of volumes 1 to 2 will be available for free on "Magapoke" from July 9th. Oh my God! “Washi Sen” will be made into an anime! I'm surprised!
It really feels like a dream! This was my first serialization, and I was fumbling along, not knowing what was right and what was left, so when the editor in charge told me that it might be made into an anime, I was both happy and honestly nervous.
However, it was the reliable anime production staff who helped dispel my fears.
He really thought about what kind of characters Koichi and Zukki would be, and the script and character designs were both very nice. thank you! !
