Additional cast members for the TV anime "Heaven is a Red River" have been announced. It has been revealed that voice actors Minami Takayama and Kazuhiko Inoue will appear.
``The Banks of the Red River'' is a historical fantasy based on the manga by Chie Shinohara, which was serialized in Shogakukan's ``Shoujo Comic'' from 1995 to 2002 and boasted immense popularity, with a total circulation of over 20 million copies, including the electronic version.
In addition to winning the girls' category at the 46th Shogakukan Manga Awards, it was also adapted into a stage play by the Takarazuka Revue in 2018, and this monumental work in girls' manga, which is still loved around the world, is the first Shinohara work to be made into a TV anime. The animation will be produced by Tatsunoko Productions under the direction of Kosuke Kobayashi. The cast includes Mirei Tachibana as Yuuri Suzuki, also known as Yuri, and Wataru Kato as Kyle Mursili.
The story begins when Yuri, an ordinary girl living in modern-day Japan, is suddenly summoned to the Hittite Empire in the 14th century BC. Confused, Yuri meets Kyle, the prince who is seen as the most likely candidate to succeed the Empire's throne.
Yuri, who was taken into his care as his concubine, eventually won the hearts of the people and became known as Ishtar, the goddess of war. As the time limit for returning to modern Japan approaches, Yuri becomes embroiled in the empress's intrigues and conflicts with surrounding countries, and is also shaken by his love for Kyle, who he has developed feelings for. This is an authentic taiga romance where a girl is suddenly summoned to the ancient Orient world over several thousand years and takes her own destiny into her own hands.
The Cast and Staff
Additional cast members for this work have been announced. It has been revealed that Kazuhiko Inoue will play the father of the main character, Yuri, and Minami Takayama will play the mother.
The two played Yuri and Kyle in the Sound Theater (drama CD) that was released at the time the original was serialized. In this work, such a talented cast has returned from time to time as the parents who watch over the main character, Yuri.
Inoue, who will be involved in this work again, commented with deep emotion, ``I never thought I would be able to be involved in this work again after 30 years,'' and ``I really feel the love.'' Takayama said of this work, ``It's a spectacular love romance between Yuuri and Kyle, who stick to love and justice even though they are suddenly caught up in a whirlwind of battle.'' ``Please support these two who are at the mercy of their quirky characters.''
