Exciting Updates for Oshiri Tantei: New Cast and Space Adventures
Fans of the popular series have a lot to look forward to as the new TV anime Oshiri Tantei is all set to be broadcast on NHK E-Tele starting from April 4th. This is great news for kids and even adults who enjoy a good mystery with a bit of humor. Along with the release date, the makers have also shared a fresh main visual, a promotional video (PV), and some very interesting new cast information that has got everyone talking.
In the latest main visual, we can see Oshiri Tantei and his trusty assistant Brown. They are both seen wearing a slightly different style compared to their usual detective outfits, and they are looking up at the vastness of space. If you look closely at a planet floating in the background, there is a character called Oshiri Dandy (Young) who is making his first appearance in this new work. Interestingly, this visual is actually inspired by a scene from the book Yomimono Oshiri Tantei File 12: Oshiri Tante Kaito U's Otoshimono. This book serves as a prequel to the movie Oshiri Tantei: Star and Moon which was released only last year.
The New Series: Adventures of Young Oshiri Dandy
The upcoming series is going to be quite a ride. It will mainly focus on the grand adventure of Oshiri Dandy (Young) and his energetic partner, Hehe. Their main mission is to protect various treasures scattered across the globe. At the same time, the main detective anime storyline continues with Oshiri Tantei facing off against the mysterious Kaito Academy once more. He is trying to get to the bottom of a secret that was hidden in a request he got from Kaito U.
The casting for these new roles is also quite stellar:
- Satoshi Hino will be playing the role of Oshiri Dandy (Young). He is the main lead of the spin-off manga Oshiri Dandy the Young and is also the father of our favorite detective.
- Mikako Komatsu has been officially cast as Hee Hee, Dandy's reliable partner in their quest.
In the new PV, both of these characters were shown for the first time. Satoshi Hino shared his excitement, saying he wants to fully enjoy the adventure and explore the history of how Oshiri Dandy eventually became such a dandy figure. On the other hand, Mikako Komatsu described Hehe as a very serious and motivated partner who is always ready for action.

Family Stage Shows and Summer Tour Plans
Apart from the anime, there is more excitement planned for this summer. A Kanto tour of the stage show titled Oshiri Tantei Family Stage Nanbu Isekino Daimajin is going to take place. This stage play features a completely original story where Oshiri Tantei and Oshiri Dandy work together. They are tasked with solving the kidnapping of a doctor who was busy investigating some very mysterious ancient ruins. If you are in Japan, you can catch the performances at these venues:
- July 18th: Chofu Green Hall in Tokyo
- August 11th: Hirashin Hiratsuka Cultural Arts Hall in Kanagawa
- August 15th: Kashiwa Civic Cultural Center Hall in Chiba
For those who might be new to the series, Oshiri Tantei is a unique detective show about a guy who literally has a butt for a face but is actually a genius at deduction. The show has been running since 2018 and is now entering its 8th successful year. It is honestly one of those shows that proves why Oshiri Tantei is a must-watch for fans of all ages because of its quirky charm and clever puzzles. We can't wait to see what the new season brings in April!
