The film ``Etoile Blooming in Paris'' is set in Paris in the early 20th century and tells the story of Fujiko, who dreams of becoming a painter, and Chizuru, who is a master of the naginata but is drawn to ballet, as they pursue their dreams even as they hit a wall in Paris. What unfolds at the beginning is the fateful encounter between Fujiko and Chizuru in Yokohama, the conflict that Fujiko finds herself in as she tries to become a painter in Japan, and her departure for Paris with her uncle Wakabayashi, the prologue to the story in which she herself is full of hope.
Haruichi Shirato, who is responsible for a wide range of research on the settings of manga, anime, games, and novels, participated as a researcher in the film, which depicts the Belle Époque era, when various cultures flourished, approximately 100 years ago on the eve of World War I. Shirato researched everything from the cityscape of the time to the people's lives and even the props that supported it, in order to create a work that is persuasive and packed with information, even in casual depictions. In conjunction with the release of the opening video, Shirato has commented on the camera held by Fujiko's uncle Wakabayashi, Fujiko's parents' home, the Sonoi family, and the scenery of Paris.
