Manga Million Launch
Shueisha, the publisher of Shonen Jump, has launched a brand-new platform called Manga Million, which boasts nearly 400 free manga titles, including Naruto and One Piece. This move comes as subscription platforms like Crunchyroll consistently update their services with new manga titles, potentially putting Manga Million in direct competition.
The new online platform currently features 1 million pages of manga across nearly 400 different titles, all completely free, with some of the most popular titles having been translated across dozens of different languages. In fact, almost 300 Manga Million titles are being translated for the very first time, with 50 receiving their very first multilingual translations.
Manga Million Features
Manga Million was made possible through the incredible cooperation of manga creators, according to President and Representative Director of Shueisha Hideaki Hayashi.
MANGA Plus Editor-in-Chief and Manga Million lead Shuhei Hosono opened up about the impetus behind the new platform, recalling that the project began with a simple question: what if we marked Shueisha's 100th anniversary by translating one million pages of manga into 100 languages? For more information, users can visit the official website.
Manga Million Availability
Manga Million is currently available entirely for free for users worldwide for a limited time. The debut of Manga Million couldn't come at a better time for Shueisha, as the latest quarterly print circulation survey revealed that Weekly Shonen Jump has officially hit a new low in terms of physical print runs.
