The State of Weekly Shonen Jump
Weekly Shonen Jump, the home of legendary series like One Piece, Naruto, and Dragon Ball, has reached a historic low in circulation, with print copies falling below 1 million for the first time under its current reporting system.
According to a print circulation survey by the Printing Industries Association, Weekly Shonen Jump has seen a significant decline in circulation, with other manga magazines like Weekly Shonen Magazine and Weekly Shonen Sunday also experiencing drops in circulation.
The Impact on One Piece
Despite the decline in Weekly Shonen Jump's circulation, One Piece remains a highly successful series, with strong sales and new releases, including LEGO sets and live-action adaptations. In July, One Piece Vol. 115 reached the top of the manga sales charts, with over 627,000 units sold.
The series has seen a myriad of new releases in 2026, including new chapters of Eiichiro Oda's original manga, new episodes of the long-running One Piece anime, and a second season of Netflix's fan-favorite live-action streaming adaptation.
In July, One Piece fans received a unique 12-minute special, "A Lazy Day in Thousand Sunny," produced by Rei Takano and written and directed by Yasuyuki Tsutsumi, which brought the Straw Hat Pirates to life through a puppet show.
