Continuation of the Story
Since the first season of the TV anime was aired in 2012, four series (97 episodes in total) have been produced, and the story reached a grand conclusion in the Alicization arc, the longest in the series. In addition to the completely new theatrical version ``Sword Art Online the Movie -Ordinal Scale-'' released in 2017, in recent years the ``Sword Art Online Progressive'' series (``Aria of the Starless Night'' and ``Scherzuo of the Dark Dusk''), which reconstructed the original story, have been consecutive big hits. Cumulative box office revenue for the three films in Japan exceeded 5 billion yen, and all of them ranked first in box office revenue in their first week of release.
The title has been decided as ``Sword Art Online the Movie - Integral Domain.'' It was also announced that it will be released in 2028.
Additionally, a teaser visual drawn by Yumiko Yamamoto, who serves as the character designer for this work, has also been released. The cast has also been confirmed to continue with Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kirito and Haruka Tomatsu as Asuna.
